Snetterton 2013

Alexis driven by Peter Boel

Mk 9  Chassis number TR-2 Date of manufacture March 1967 – Formula 2

The Mk9 was constructed as a Formula 3 in 1966 and was the only Mk9 produced by the Alexis factory. It was campaigned in Europe and the UK by Allan Taylor but with limited success. In 1967 it was returned to the factory where it was upgraded and sold as a Formula 2 car to Robert Nunemacher and campaigned in the USA Formula B championships. In 1969 it returned to the UK and was fitted with a FVA engine and then campaigned in the British Hillclimb Championships by Robert Turnbull. Robert then sold it with a Vegantune Lotus Twin Cam to his cousin Andy Turnock. Additional owners include Ken Oram, Peter Rees and Graham Buckland before it was sold to Tony Archer. Tony imported the car into Australia and started the restoration and completed a significant portion of the process.
In 2010, Neil McCrudden acquired the Alexis Mk9 from Tony Archer. The standard of the preperation is a credit to Tony’s love for the car and his technical skills.
The car has now raced at the Tasman event in Sydney in 2012, New Zealand at the Chris Amon Festival and the United Kingdom in Ireland and Snetterton as well as West Australia
