Croft Nostalgia Weekend – “The Goodwood of the North”

Formula Juniors Croft Parc Ferme

The Croft circuit is located in the North East of England near the town of Darlington. The Nostalgia Weekend was the final race of my 10 week tour of the UK and Europe. Unfortunately none of the other WARM drivers were at the meeting as the class they usually run in (Classic Racing Cars) was not included in the programme.
Croft, like many of the UK circuits is an old World War 2 airfield adapted for motor sport after the war was over. The circuit is approximately 3.2 km with a variety of fast and slow corners.

I entered the meeting naive to the fact this would be a bumper packed weekends with historic aircraft, old military vehicles, vintage coaches and buses, motorcycles, bush bikes etc. The circus also included a range of marquees provide everything from period fashion clothing and old car parts to luxury wining and dining and everything in between. There was of course the usual array of classic road and race cars too.

The event attracted over 10,000 spectators with many dressed in period attire, including a George Formby look-a-like and a tribute Andrew’s Sisters group.
The whole weekend had a carnival feel about it with air displays, tank battles, display laps and vintage bus circuit tours interspersed between the racing.
