1960 Midget Speedcar
|
The Midget speedcar was originally built by Mick Geneve
in the late 1950's.
Ken Hopkins acquired the car and upgraded it to a fuel injected 'grey' holden motor. The motor was dry sumped, fitted with a vertex magneto, tuned extractors, special pistons and head. A quick change diff was fitted together with magnesium wheels (12" front and 13"rear). During the time with Ken Hopkins the car won two state championships.
In the early 1970's the car was sold to person in Geraldton were it ran for a number of years before being sold to Port Hedland (Arthur Wainwright at Pilbara Radiators). The Midget was fitted with a wedge body, wider wheels, fuel bladder, and roll bar. In 1999, Neil McCrudden acquired the car and restored it back to its original 1960's condition. The vehicle has been used at numerous historic speedway events including the last meeting of the Claremont Speedway. The vehicle is currently being further restored by John Barlow and will be used by John in historic events and shows. . |
