The space frame chassis for the Repco Sports was originally built
By David Van Dal in 1954 for Jim Richard's BRM Morgan R4 monoposto
racing car.
In 1960 it was sold to Lionel Beattie. Lionel successfully raced the car over the next few years winning the Sporting Car Championships in 1961 and 1962 and together with Jack Ayres won the 6 Hour Le Mans in 1962. Around the House races were major events and during 1962 won at Albany beating Doug Green in a Ferrari 625. In 1963 it was sold to Rod Waller and competed successfully right up to the late 1960's. By 1970 the vehicle was obsolete and was scraped. The vehicle was acquired in poor condition in 1974 by Neil McCrudden. The vehicle was rebuilt during the mid 1990's and has run at a number of events including around the houses' hill climbs and at Wanneroo Raceway. |
