This car is owned by Russell Sewell Kiwi Howden Ganley and Aussie Tim Schenken produced the first Tiga in 1976, having taken over the MRE Formula Ford concern. Designer Martin Read concentrated on the lesser formulae and small sports cars, running the F3 Team Tiga starting in 1978 initially running Marches and Ralts. The F381 was eventually designed and run with the other team cars. An earlier F2 design, the F280 showed promise, being laid out as a small scale F1 ground effects car. In the early 80s Tiga built a range of cars for the lesser single seater categories up to Formula Atlantic, with possibly the most successful being the FA82 which won the Australian Championship. The firm then focused on the sports cars for which it is better known. Text above from racecar sales site. |
