Chevron B17C Formula 2

Chevron B17C Formula 2

This Chevron B17C was built by Derek Bennett Engineering in 1970 in answer to requests to produce a Formula 2 for Reine Wisell who had been impressed with the Formula B version of the B15. Only 2 of this model were produced one for Reine and the one I have acquired which is chassis no 2.

This car was originally powered by an FVC and successfully campaigned in 1970 by Steve Thompson to win the BOC British Formula Libre Championship. The car was then campaigned on and off in the European Formula Atlantic Series in 1972.

Now with a BDA it eventually found its way to the Channel Islands. It returned to England in the mid 1980s and ran successfully in 2000/2001 in the pre 1971 historic racing car series.

It should arrive on our shores early in January 2007.

About the owner Martin Bullock

I first became involved with motor sport in my early teens working for a professional motorsport journalist/photographer in the UK in the late 60s and early 70s.

I came to love this era of motorsport and enjoyed a privileged position on the “inside” with my press pass which in those days allowed entrance to all major British circuits and unlimited access to all parts of the track and paddock. I presently enjoy competing in a Cortina GT in the Historic Touring Cars and recently travelled to Phillip Island for the 2006 Classic Phillip Island where I ran my Detomaso Pantera.
