A little information about Ken Devine (by Ken)

I was born in 1939 in Perth, Western Australia and my interest in cars came about from an early age by watching my next door neighbour, a young mechanic, by the name of Doug Whitehead working on cars and motorbikes. (Doug was to become well respected engineer in the car movement)

From then on my parents always bought me books on cars (one of which I still have).

The first car race meeting I went to was the 1954 Northam Flying 50 which my friend

and I went to by train, we were then both hooked on the sport.

I then started riding my push bike form Perth to Caversham, this is when I started taking photos with my Kodak Brownie camera and they were mostly still shots in the pits.
In 1956 I became a flag-marshal which I did on a casual basis till 1959.
This gave me the opportunity to get close-up shots of the racing. (I had graduated to a 35mm camera).

In 1961 my friend and I took on the position of Handicappers which we did until 1972.

I was also involved in Go-Kart racing. My racing was not particularly successful.  I became more involved on the administration side, running the meetings, and I also organized the State and National championships in 1969.

Over the years I have take many motoring photos from Soapbox racers to Formula 1 and

Classic cars.

Although I have a great interest in Vintage Racing and Sports cars my classic car of choice is the Austin A40 Devon, one of the most popular cars after the end of the war, and which many people of my generation relate to.

It gives me pleasure to show my photos on this website, please enjoy them.

I would like to thank all the other people who share my interest and who have given me their photos to add to this collection.

Kind Regards,

Ken Devine.
